It may seem odd to call the concept of safety a game. Peoples lives and well being are certainly not to be played with. But in essence, within existing safety departments around the globe, there is a sense of exhaustion that no matter how hard they work, improvements are minimally incremental at best. The approach to safety using technical "safety advisors" creates a safety cop mentality that has shown no further effect at improving TRIF (Total Recordable Incident Frequency) or reducing Lost Time Incidents (LTIs). Further progress in improving safety at work must come not from further regulation, but from building safe communities at work.
